Sunbury residents could soon be $10,000 richer – just for recycling. Victoria’s Container Deposit Scheme has launched a Win a Million! Cents competition, giving five lucky recyclers the chance to each win a $10,000 cash prize.
Running until 15 June 2025, the competition automatically enters anyone who returns 50 or more eligible drink containers in a single transaction.
One winner will also receive an extra $10,000 to donate to a registered charity, school, or community group of their choice.
Locals can take part by returning containers at the deposit machine at the Rosenthal Woolworths carpark, Vineyard Rd.
With each bottle, can, or carton returned, you earn a 10-cent refund while also helping the environment and supporting community causes. Whether you keep your refund or donate it to a local cause, you’ll still be in the running.
Since the scheme launched in November 2023, more than 1.7bn drink containers have been returned across Victoria, putting $170m back into the hands of Victorians. More than $1.7m has also been donated to charities, schools, and community groups.
