Sunbury residents are to protest outside the electorate office of MP Josh Bull Tuesday 20 May to express concern over the Emergency Services Volunteer Fund Levy. The protest is planned to last for one hour from 10am, with Mr Bull being invited to address those present.

The levy, which replaces the Fire Services Property Levy and passed into law Friday 16 May, has sparked widespread criticism for its financial impact on anyone who pays a rates bill.
The new levy is set to raise an estimated $2bn for Victoria’s state budget. However, critics argue it disproportionately affects farmers and volunteer firefighters, with some claiming fee increases of up to 200%. It has seen some CFA volunteers not responding to emergencies.
The protest in Sunbury is part of a broader statewide movement, with similar demonstrations planned across regional Victoria.
According to social media posts, organisers are calling on Mr Bull to address their concerns and provide clarity on how the levy will impact Sunbury.
