The first meeting of the new Sunbury Lions Club is being held this week.

Gerry Monaghan of the Bacchus Marsh Lions Club is leading the charge to get the Sunbury arm of the national organisation back up and running, which had a presence in town for 59 years until membership numbers dwindled.
Since March Mr Monaghan has signed up 13 locals to get the club up and running, but he’s hoping to encourage around eight more people to step up.
He’s holding a meet-and-greet Wednesday 21 May at the Sunbury Social Club starting at 7pm.
All are welcome he says, as the national body’s two-year time limit for restarting the club, is nearly up.
