Pickleball fever grips Sunbury

A sport combining elements of tennis, badminton and table tennis is making waves across the Sunbury region, attracting participants from as young as eight to well into their 80s.

The Sunbury Pickleball Club, a not-for-profit community group, is inviting locals of all ages and skill levels to give pickleball a try. Known for its social atmosphere and easy-to-learn format, the sport is quickly becoming a favourite among families, retirees, and beginners alike.

“Pickleball is truly for everyone,” said club president Tim Gadler. “We’ve seen grandparents playing with their grandkids, newcomers picking it up quickly, and a great sense of camaraderie among players. Every session is filled with energy and fun.”

The club currently hosts weekly sessions at two locations:

  • Tuesday mornings and Sunday evenings at Sunbury Recreation Stadium, Clarke Oval
  • Friday nights at Riddells Creek Tennis Club

Sessions cost $12 for two hours, with discounted rates for members. All equipment is provided, with players only needing to wear comfortable shoes.

For session updates or to get involved, visit the Sunbury Pickleball Club on Facebook or email [email protected].
