Sunbury rock festival headliner’s guitars stolen

One of the headline acts at Sunbury ’24 has had his prized collection of iconic electric guitars stolen.

Joe Camilleri, leader of The Black Sorrows, returned home late in the evening to find thieves had broken in. Missing are his passport, an Apple computer, laptop computer, other household items, and most important of all – nine precious guitars

In a desperate post on Facebook he wrote: “These are distinct instruments and will be difficult to off-load.”

Mr Camilleri has photos of all the instruments along with the unique serial number for each guitar. The theft was reported to police.

Macedon Ranges detectives say unknown offenders forced entry to Mr Camilleri’s Mitchell St, Kyneton, home about 10.30pm, Thursday 3 July.

In a statement, police say: “No one was home at the time of the incident. Investigations into the matter remain ongoing.”

Anyone who witnessed the incident, has CCTV, dashcam footage or any other information that could assist police is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
