Many Sunbury residents will know by now that the victorian government is looking to nod-through a waste to energy power plant in Sunbury Rd, Bulla – at the HiQ Eco-Hub.
If built this plant will burn up to 750,000 tonnes of rubbish every year. It will create up to 800 truck movements a day, to and from the site, and a 60m chimney will be built within site of two new housing estates.
The government says these types of plants are safe. But are they?
While Sunbury Life has been reporting on the proposal since January 2024, we’ve never spoken to an expert about these plants who doesn’t have a vested interest in seeing them built.
