The Sunbury community will benefit from a $2.5m boost for the Eric Boardman Stadium if the Albanese Labor Government is re-elected on Saturday 3 May.
Federal Labor Member for Hawke Sam Rae announced the funding, which will support critical upgrades to the stadium’s infrastructure for the membership of the Sunbury Basketball Association (SBA) and the wider Sunbury community.
“This investment is a vital step towards realising our vision for a modern, inclusive Eric Boardman Stadium,” says the SBA’s Nathan Sellwood.

“Upgraded facilities will support increased participation across basketball and netball, create more opportunities for local programs, and ensure our growing community has access to a welcoming and accessible space for all.”
This project will include delivering expanded office and meeting rooms, improved spectator and participant amenities, accessible entryways, technology enhancements and designated community learning spaces.
These improvements will allow SBA to meet the increasing demand for basketball, netball and community programs, says Mr Rae.
“This investment ensures that our growing Sunbury community has access to modern, inclusive and safe sporting facilities,” he says.
“The Sunbury Basketball Association and Sunbury Netball Association do a fantastic job promoting a more social and active community, and I’m pleased that this investment will support the continued growth of their programs.”
