Changes planned for housing rules

This is the final week of consultation on proposed changes to planning policies by Hume City Council under Amendment C263.

Over the next 20 years the population of Hume will grow to 130,000 new residents. To manage the demand in housing, council adopted the Housing Diversity Strategy in 2020 (updated 2023), to improve housing choice and design in the city.

It has also introduced Amendment C263, a municipal wide strategic housing framework into the Hume planning scheme. There are four levels of change across the city’s established residential areas (including Sunbury), that have been published as PDFs:

Further information on Amendment C263 and the change levels can be found in the video below.

Council has also prepared a draft Good Design Guide. While the guide does not form part of the amendment, council is seeking feedback on these guidelines.
