Come and try cricket event

Sunbury’s young girls will have the chance to pick up a bat and ball when the local cricket community hosts a special Junior Girls Cricket Come and Try Night later this month.

The free session will run from 5pm to 6pm on Tuesday, 24 September, at Boardman Oval No. 2, and is aimed at encouraging girls to give the game a go in a friendly and supportive environment.

Organisers say no previous experience is needed, with the night designed to help players make friends, learn basic skills, and enjoy the fun side of cricket.

The event will also double as a junior registration night for the upcoming season, giving families the chance to sign up on the spot.

“Just bring your energy and have a crack – we’d love to see you there,” organisers said.

The initiative is part of a broader push to grow female participation in cricket across the region, following strong national growth in women’s and girls’ competitions.
