A new bus route offering a direct link between Sunbury and Diggers Rest, announced by MP Josh Bull in October 2022, still hasn’t arrived.
A Department of Transport and Planning spokesperson this week says it is “…continuously reviewing the bus network in Melbourne’s rapidly growing north-west to identify where improvements can be made to make it easier for locals to travel.
“In 2024, we’re introducing this new direct link between Sunbury and Diggers Rest [railway] stations to deliver better connections to shops, schools, train stations and other amenities.”
Once introduced, the new route 475 will operate seven days a week at a frequency of 20 minutes during peak periods, and 40 minutes during the interpeak and on weekends.
No date has been provided for the introduction of the 475 service.
Back in 2022 Mr Bull said: “Many locals travel between Diggers Rest and Sunbury for work and school, so it’s exciting to see a new bus route to connect our growing communities.
“We are helping people get where they need to go by building more connections between communities and train stations…It will provide much-needed public transport coverage to areas that currently have none.”
