Do you want to stand for council in the next election?

Local elections for Hume City Council take place in October, so if you are thinking about standing as a candidate then now is the time to act.

Nominations to go on the ballot paper must be submitted by 12pm Tuesday 17 September. Visit the Vic councils website for more information.

In the lead up to elections – from 12pm Tuesday 17 September to 6pm Saturday 26 October – Hume City Council will only be communicating essential news, so as not to influence voters.

This year will see a big change for Sunbury as new ward boundaries mean the town will have two councillors after the election instead of the current three. The election will be by postal ballot, and papers will be sent to homes by the Victorian Electoral Commission.

Ballot packs will be delivered between Tuesday 8 October and Thursday 10 October. Complete and post your ballot by 6pm on Friday 25 October. Election results will be declared by Friday 15 November.

To vote in the election, you must be enrolled to vote. Please check your enrolment details at VEC check my enrolment and make sure your postal address is correct.
