Kismet Park Primary School brought stories to life in a week-long celebration of reading, creativity, and community spirit during Children’s Book Week.
Running from Saturday 16 to Saturday 23 August, the 2025 theme “Book an Adventure!” was embraced in full by the school’s students, teachers, and families through a packed schedule of fun and engaging activities.
Throughout the week, students explored titles from the CBCA’s Book of the Year Awards, designed book covers and comic strips, and participated in a range of competitions including Guess the Teacher Behind the Book and Book Trivia.
“We are so proud of our students for coming together to celebrate this special week,” said acting principal Sam Carlton. “It is a great opportunity to share and review outstanding works of literature for young Australians.”
The highlight of the celebration was the school’s annual Book Week Parade, a colourful event where students dressed up as their favourite characters and shared stories that inspired them. Families were invited to join the fun, along with a local neighbouring kindergarten, making it a true community event.
“Book Week is all about nurturing a love for reading in our students through sharing rich texts and celebrating the creativity of authors and illustrators,” said literacy learning specialist Brodie Lane.
“Our Book Parade is a highlight of the week and a joyful community event that everyone looks forward to each year.”
With costumes, creativity, and community at its heart, Kismet Park’s Book Week was a resounding success – an adventure in reading the whole school will remember.
