Power plant proposed by waste management firm

Hi-Quality, the firm running the waste management facility in Bulla, wants to build a waste-to-energy power generation plant and expand its treatment facility at its Eco Hub in Sunbury Rd.

News of the proposals came via a leaflet drop to homes in Sunbury this week.

The company is holding a series of online community forums on 6, 14, and 22 February to “share its plans and hear your views”.

A Hume City Council spokesperson said the council was not aware of the proposal when contacted by SunburyLife for comment.

A spokesperson for Hi-Quality said more details of the project would be made available at the public meetings, adding that community consultation was the first stage of the process before any formal application was lodged with council.

“We haven’t submitted anything yet,” the Hi Quality spokesperson said. “But we have had engagement with a variety of stakeholders.”

SunburyLife will update this story as more details become available.
