Scott St house blaze

Nine fire trucks attended a house fire at 1 Scott St, Sunbury, Thursday 20 March. The lunch-time blaze saw fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) crews responding to multiple triple zero calls.

Thirty-three firefighters arrived within four minutes of the calls being made to find smoke and flames piercing the roof of the single storey brick veneer home. Crews used breathing apparatus to enter the burning home and tackle the fire.

Firefighters searched the home and confirmed nobody was inside. All occupants were able to evacuate safely without injury.

The fire was deemed under control at 2pm, 47 minutes after fire crews arrived on the scene.

FRV says the roof of the house has been severely damaged in the fire, and that the fire was caused accidentally by a discarded cigarette butt.

CFA firefighters, Victoria Police, and Ambulance Victoria assisted.
