Sunbury United Sporting Club is to temporarily close its doors to carry out essential repairs following flood damage earlier in the year.
The decision follows heavy rainfall on Friday 14 February, which caused significant damage to the Mitchells Ln venue, Langama Park.
Club manager Tina Coleman says the closure on Sunday 6 July, is “regrettable but necessary” to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff, members, and patrons.
“This decision was not made lightly,” says Ms Coleman. “We considered all options, including staying partially open, but after careful discussion – and on the strong recommendation of our insurers – it became clear that a full closure was the best path forward.”
The club expects repairs to take approximately four to six weeks and will provide further updates as work progresses.
“We understand this may cause inconvenience, and we truly appreciate the community’s understanding and ongoing support,” said Ms Coleman. “Our priority is a safe and efficient repair process so we can welcome everyone back soon — with a fresh look and exciting times ahead.”
Members or patrons with questions are encouraged to contact the club directly.
