Sunbury SES respond to severe weather calls

Members of Sunbury SES stepped up to help communities in southeast Melbourne after the state was hit by more than 1,600 calls during Wednesday’s severe storms.

The wild weather caused extensive damage to buildings, downed trees blocking roads, and trees fell onto buildings and cars.

Sunbury Rescue 1, led by crew leader Jarrod Bell, was in Chelsea supporting the emergency response. Joining him were driver Jacinta, safety officer Sarah, and crew members Sue, Ben, and Bree.

“This is a significant storm event, and our crew is ready to assist wherever we’re needed,” said Bell.

“We know the people of Chelsea and the southeast are doing it tough right now, and we’re here to help them get through this.”

At the same time, the Sunbury SES has been busy responding to emergencies in Sunbury, with 10 callouts over the past two days. These have primarily involved damaged homes and trees obstructing roads.
