Jacksons Hill Building 22 visitor days
Building 22 (the former women’s refractory building) at Jacksons Hill is to be opened for four days for self-guided tours.
Displays will include the history of the Boilerhouse Theatre Company and the council’s arts and culture project. History and visitor information volunteers will also be on hand.
Open days, 10am to 2pm, are:
- Saturday 20 April
- Saturday 27 April
- Saturday 4 May
- Saturday 11 May
Writing contest: People, Places, Spaces
Hume City Council has launched a writing contest.
Write on the theme of People-Places-Spaces. Entries can be non-fiction, think piece, short story, a script or poetry, and submitted online.
Think along the lines of relationships between people, places, heritage and diversity and how it shapes our experience of what it is to be in the present. Addressing questions of how these relationships change across people, places, and spaces in Hume.
Three age categories with prizes valued at up to $200.
Sunbury Arts Society annual show
Sunbury Art Society organises several exhibitions each year showcasing high quality paintings available to the public for sale.
Their main event is the Annual Members’ Exhibition held in May at the Boilerhouse, Circular Dr, Jacksons Hill.
Diggers Rest level crossing consultation
The level crossings at Old Calder Highway and Watsons Road in Diggers Rest will be removed in 2025. Final designs for the new road bridges are now available to view.
You’re invited to attend a community information session to learn more about the final designs and construction, ask questions and meet the team. Registration is essential.
Sunbury SES open day
Sunbury State Emergency Service (SES) unit is thrilled to announce its upcoming open day.
This family-friendly event is free and promises an immersive experience into the world of emergency response, featuring exciting demonstrations, engaging activities, and a celebration of community resilience.
In addition to the demonstrations, visitors can explore the fleet of rescue trucks and rescue boats, gaining insight into the vital role these vehicles play in saving lives during emergencies.
Cheer Cheese Toastie Truck
1st Sunbury Scout Group is bringing the Cheer Cheese Toastie Truck to Sunbury!
Come down to the Miller St hall on May 25 to enjoy a hot cheese toastie. Every one sold supports the volunteer run 1st Sunbury Scout Group.
There will be a coffee van and cold drinks available for purchase on the day.
Home & Garden Expo
The just4Causes Home & Garden Expo will feature businesses from Sunbury and surrounding areas, emphasising the services provided in the area in an attempt to keep local businesses in business.
An experienced operator will be on hand to answer any questions and offer project ideas for your upcoming endeavour. Home security, garden landscaping, kitchen and bathroom renovations, to mention a few, will all be covered.
The cost of vendor stalls is $50. Contact: [email protected]
Money raised from stall entry will be divided up and donated to Just4Causes to distribute to a chosen local Causes.
