Thousands of excited locals turned out to have fun and be entertained at the 49th Sunfest show on Saturday 15 March that was officially opened at 10am by Hume City mayor Jarrod Bell.
The iconic street parade drew was made up of 600 children and 250 adults who made their way up O’Shanassy St to the village green.
In front of the village green fountain was a panel of Street Parade judges made up of Hume City Councillors Ally Watson and Kate Hamley, Sunbury MP Josh Bull, federal MP Sam Rae, and Adam Sacco (Leading Real Estate), who selected the winners.
Winners were:

- Sunbury Neighbourhood House
- Sunbury BMX
- State Emergency Services
- Boxy’s Bright Lights
- Flashdance
- Halls Taekwondo
On and around the green were numerous trade stall, food vans, funfair rides, and live entertainment including local dancers and musicians who kept people entertained until 11pm.
Battle of the School Choirs was won by St Anne’s Catholic Primary School who received a $500 Bunnings voucher. Second place was Our Lady of Mount Carmel and there were performances by Killara Primary School and Holy Trinity Primary School who all received a $100 Bunnings voucher.
While Saturday’s event went well with great weather drawing the crowds, organisers decided early Sunday morning to cancel the second day of the festival due to rain. Anyone who bought tickets for Sunfest 25’s Colour Run will be automatically refunded by the end of this week.
