Three Tafe courses are being offered at Sunbury’s Hume Global Learning Centre.
The move comes more than year after MP for Sunbury Josh Bull announced the opening of a new $25m Bendigo Kangan Institute Tafe facility for the town. In May 2023 he said the government “…is proud to be honouring our election commitment and delivering a brand-new Tafe in Sunbury”.
Mr Bull says Bendigo Kangan will provide Tafe courses at the Global Learning Centre until its campus opens in the town in 2028. No details have been provided on the location of the new facility.
Three courses are available at the Global Learning Centre are:
- The certificate IV in training and assessment (course starts Tuesday 13 August, next intake February 2025)
- The adult migrant English program certificate I in EAL (access) and
- The adult migrant English program certificate II in EAL (access)
The certificate IV in training and assessment is the core qualification required to be a vocational trainer, and is free.
The Kangan Institute has declined to say why these specific courses are being offered in Sunbury out of the 2,000-plus Tafe courses available.
Bendigo Kangan Institute CEO Sally Curtain says: “By partnering with the Victorian government and the Hume Global Learning Centre we can deliver valuable skills and training to the community sooner, while we continue working on establishment of our own campus facility.”
