Construction is now underway on East Village Sunbury, a new neighbourhood retail and civic centre.
The multi-million dollar development is being delivered by Birchmore in partnership with principal capital partner IDA, and forms part of the broader Kingsfield community on Lancefield Rd.
When complete next year, the 2.4ha centre will span approximately 9,250sq m and include a Woolworths supermarket, speciality retailers, a food and beverage precinct, a town square, swim school, medical centre, and other essential services.
The site will feature five standalone buildings arranged around a ground-level car park offering 263 spaces, with an additional 175 spaces provided in an undercroft facility.
Several national tenants have already committed to East Village Sunbury, including KingSwim, Anytime Fitness, Priceline, and a medical centre. A dedicated food hall will offer five retail spaces and two kiosks, while a bespoke laneway known as Market Row will provide outdoor dining and green open spaces for locals and visitors alike.
Birchmore MD Andrew Peters said: “Sunbury is a growth area that we have a lot of confidence in. There’s a real opportunity here to deliver high-quality, community-focused retail amenity that will support the town’s rapid development.”
East Village Sunbury is already 70% pre-leased. It is expected to serve the needs of a local population forecast to increase by 165% over the next two decades, supported by strong residential development.
With approximately 8,500 daily vehicle movements along Lancefield Rd, the centre’s location and ease of access are also expected to boost trade.
Construction is being undertaken by Mainbrace Construction, with completion scheduled for fourth quarter 2026.
