Sunbury residents, schools, businesses and community groups are being encouraged to take part in a short community video project to mark Thank a First Responder Day on Wednesday, 10 June.
The initiative will recognise the work of police, firefighters, ambulance crews, State Emergency Service (SES) volunteers and other emergency personnel, along with the families who support them.
Organisers are inviting people to record five to 10 second video messages expressing their appreciation, filmed vertically on a mobile phone. Contributions can be submitted via Facebook direct message or emailed to sunbury@ses.vic.gov.au.
Suggested messages include simple expressions of gratitude such as “Thank you Sunbury SES for all you do” or “Thank you to all our first responders for keeping our community safe.”
Submissions are requested by 9pm on Tuesday to allow time for inclusion in a community compilation to be released on the day.
The call-out is open to individuals as well as local businesses, sporting clubs, schools and community organisations, with organisers saying the aim is to highlight community appreciation for emergency service workers across Sunbury and surrounding areas.
