The landmark Goona Warra vineyard has been listed for sale with a price guide of $8m. The property is being marketed by Sydney-based Lawd Agribusiness.
Described as an historically significant and culturally important site, the winery and its homestead at 780 Sunbury Rd were established in 1863. Its old bluestone hall, surrounded by gum trees, was also a popular wedding venue. The latest entry on the Goona Warra Estate’s Facebook page is October 2022.
Sales agents say the original homestead is a “sprawling dual level abode which can easily be restored to its former glory or converted into a premium accommodation offering… While there’s work to be done, there’s an incredible canvas on which to work”.
The 7.84ha (19.38acres) site features a vineyard consisting of 5.27ha. According to sales literature the land consists of black basalt clay “…which is home to established Chardonnay, Semillon, Pinot Noir, Shiraz, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc vines”.
