The Sunbury rail line will be closed so work can continue on the Sunbury Line upgrade. Buses will replace trains along line from 8:30pm Thursday 25 May to 4:30am Sunday 28 May, and 8.30pm to last service each night, Sunday 28 May to Thursday 1 June, between Footscray and Tottenham stations.

Commuters using the the Sunbury rail line can expect delays and disruptions to their journeys while upgrade work is carried out.

  • Express Buses depart every 15-30 minutes *

  • Express Buses depart every 10-20 minutes *

Engineers will be removing rail tracks and relocating equipment within the rail corridor, completing signalling upgrade works to enable bigger, more modern trains and more frequent services, says Rail Projects Victoria.

“For the safety of rail users and our workers, these activities can only be performed when trains are not running,” says a spokesperson for the organisation.

“To ensure the 24-hour works can take place safely, buses will replace trains along the Sunbury line.”
