A call has gone out from CareWorks, the local not-for-profit crisis relief centre that’s been supporting the Sunbury community for more than 20 years.
The organisation is among those helping locals who find themselves in a tough spot. Now it is asking for help to replenish its stocks of tinned food that has run down over summer.
CareWorks is looking for donations of tinned spaghetti, baked beans, corn, mixed vegetables, fruit, tuna, soup, casseroles, beetroot, legumes…And anything other non-perishable food you may have spare.
The organisation runs a food bank, a food share service, and offers financial assistance program to help those in a financial quagmire.
Donations can be dropped off at its collection cage in Sunbury Square (outside Coles), and there are food donation drop points at Sunbury Library, Lake Imaging Sunbury, and the Sunbury branch of Bendigo Bank.
The organisation is often on the look out for volunteers to drive delivery vans, sort food, hamper packing, cleaning, reception/admin duties, and other support roles.
