The Sunbury State Emergency Service (SES) is on the lookout for new members. It’s calling on community-minded locals to step up and join the Sunbury unit.
With emergencies such as storms, floods, and road crash rescues requiring a rapid response, Sunbury SES is keen to recruit volunteers who live in the area.
Sunbury unit controller Catherine Bebbington says volunteering with SES is a rewarding way to serve the community while learning valuable skills.

“Our volunteers come from all walks of life, students, shift workers, parents, and retirees. But what unites them is their commitment to helping others,” says Ms Bebbington.
“We provide all the training and equipment and we’re especially keen to hear from people who are available during the day.”
Volunteers are trained in a variety of roles, from flood rescue to storm response, search and rescue, and community education.
The unit is holding a recruitment information evening at its 21 McDoughall Rd HQ on Wednesday 26 March to give interested locals a chance to meet current volunteers, learn about the role, and find out how to get involved. Doors open at 7pm.
Sunbury SES has been serving the community since 1977, responding to emergencies in Sunbury, Diggers Rest, Bulla, Wildwood, and Clarkefield.
Those interested in joining Sunbury SES should register at www.sessunbury.org.au or RSVP to the Facebook Event.
