SunFest grand street parade.

Get set for Sunfest – fun for children of all ages

This weekend Sunfest volunteers, dozens of traders, musicians, and a travelling funfair will bring plenty of entertainment and laughter to Sunbury (see below for the full program).

This is the 49th year of Sunfest and on the program are community performances, roving entertainers, circus play spaces, reptile encounters and animal farm, market stalls, food, and thrilling carnival rides and games.

Sunfest opens at 9am on Saturday (15 March) with an official (10am) welcome by Sunbury councillor and Hume City mayor Jarrod Bell.

The Battle of the School Choirs starts at just after 10am and dozens of attractions follow including a reptile show, the Grand Street Parade (Sat 12.30pm – 1pm), Flashdance performers, and at 6.15pm Sunfest Under the Stars with Dixon Music starting the show.

A colourful (and noisey) 10-minute display of fireworks is due to start at about 9.15pm Saturday, and live music will continue until 11pm.

Among Sunday’s many events is the Colour Run (10.30am) that will see runners pelted with handfuls of different coloured powder, and there will be plenty of live entertainment throughout the day until the festival closes at 3pm.

SunFest takes place in and around the Sunbury Village Green, Stawell St, Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 March and is free to enter.

Road closures for the event:

  • All day road closures on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 March on Brook St between O’Shanassy St and Barkly St
