Sunbury councillor and Hume City mayor Jarrod Bell is to give a speech on Thursday 6 March to members of the Sunbury chapter of the University of the Third Age (U3A).
Cllr Bell will talk about why he wants to encourage “cohesive decision making within the new council group, while at the same time using the collective voice to advocate for the service needs of the community”.

Sunbury’s population is expected to reach 45,000 during 2025 and is forecast to grow to more than 105,000 by 2046. Hume’s population is predicted to grow to 411,000 residents by 2045 (currently 243,000).
Cllr Bell will explain how he will:
- Develop a new council plan shaped by community feedback that will guide decisions made over the next four years
- Advocate for critical infrastructure to be upgraded or built as more people call Hume home
According to a U3A statement, the organisation tells members that hearing from Cllr Bell will be an opportunity “to not only to hear the future plans for Sunbury, but also as a resident to provide him with feedback and ideas about any changes or improvements in the infrastructure”.
