All aboard! The Sunbury Model Railway Club is preparing to host its 40th annual Model Train Exhibition on the weekend of 18-19 October.
A must-see for railway enthusiasts and curious locals alike, this year’s exhibition promises something truly special with the debut of a new, historically inspired layout based on the Sunbury Railway Station and township as it appeared in the 1970s.
Developed over five years by dedicated club members, this scale (1:87) model is the result of painstaking research and meticulous craftsmanship.
“We’re incredibly proud to share this project with the community,” said Michael Holian, exhibition manager. “It’s a detailed snapshot of Sunbury’s past, brought to life in miniature.”
The two-day event will showcase a range of operating model train layouts, interactive displays, model construction demos, and trade stalls catering to hobbyists of all levels.
Visitors can explore the exhibition at St Anne’s Hall, Riddell Rd, Sunbury, between 10am and 5pm on Saturday 18 October, and 10am to 4pm Sunday 19 October. Tickets cost (adults) $10, (Children 16 and under) $5, and a family pass (2 adults & 3 children) $25.
On-site parking is available, and a well-stocked ‘buffet car’ will offer food and refreshments for those spending the day immersed in model railways.
“There will be something for everyone – families, collectors, builders, or anyone just looking for a fun local outing,” said Mr Holian.
