The 25m indoor swimming pool at the Sunbury Aquatic and Leisure Centre – that has been closed since May last year – will reopen on Monday 15 January.

The pool was closed to repair its water pipes. Work was expected to cost $45,000, but the bill to ratepayers has risen to more than $500,000.

Sunbury Life has asked council for a list of works done on the pool.

There will be more kindergartens spaces across Hume thanks to a multi-million-dollar investment in early childhood care projects across the city from the state government.

A Hume City council spokesperson says work is in progress to identify future kindergarten locations across Hume including sites in Sunbury.

Organisers of SunFest 2024 are calling for stallholders of all kinds to sign-up and join the event which is set to attract 35,000 people in March.

Thought to be the largest volunteer-run festival in the country, this year’s show will feature more than 30 live performances and carnival rides.

The median value of a 4-bed house in Sunbury now sits at $757,000 – down 1% on 12 months ago – according to the latest figures from RealEstate.com. The median value of a unit is $472,000.

Sunbury currently has 234 properties for sale, there are 3,000 buyers, and renters are paying around $520 a week.

Following a pre-Christmas announcement that Sunbury’s Okami restaurant faced an uncertain future, the company now says the local store will continue trading as normal for the foreseeable future.
