Hi-Quality, the firm running the waste management facility in Bulla, wants to build a waste-to-energy power generation plant and expand its treatment facility in Sunbury Rd. News of the proposals came via a leaflet drop to homes in Sunbury this week.
The company is holding a series of online community forums on 6, 14, and 22 February to “share its plans and hear your views”.
A Hume City Council spokesperson wasn’t aware of the proposal when SunburyLife contacted them for comment.
A spokesperson for Hi Quality said more details of the project will be made available at the public meetings, adding that public consultation is the first stage of the process ahead of putting in a formal application to council for resource consent.
“We haven’t submitted anything yet,” she said. “But we have had engagement with a variety of stakeholders.”
We will update this story as more details come to hand.
