Proposed heavy truck ban – have your say

A plan to ban trucks weighing 4.5 tonnes or more in parts of Wildwood is being proposed by Hume City Council. It’s looking for community feedback on the idea.

Between February and April 2022 the intersection of Mickleham Rd and Craigieburn Rd was closed for repairs.

Since the intersection reopened, council states official data shows a higher volume of heavy vehicles have been using Bardwell Dr, Wildwood Rd (North), Konagaderra Rd, and Gellies Rd.

Council believes the quality of life for people living along these roads might be negatively affected and so proposes to make sections off limits to heavy vehicle traffic (over 4.5 tonnes of gross vehicle mass). There would be exceptions for emergency vehicles and HGVs delivering to properties along these roads.

Any change in road use will need approval from Vic Roads. Meanwhile, council invites submissions on its proposal, and these can be made here by 5pm Friday 28 February 2025.
