A Sunbury man is among four people arrested after a violent roadside affray that left a young man in hospital with serious stab wounds.
Detectives are investigating the incident, which unfolded around 5pm Tuesday after multiple witnesses called triple zero reporting two cars – a Kia and a Volkswagen Golf – allegedly driving erratically along Dimboola Rd, Broadmeadows.
Police allege the Kia rammed the Volkswagen several times before both vehicles crossed onto the wrong side of Pascoe Vale Rd, where they subsequently collided with another car.
A 20-year-old Broadmeadows man, believed to be involved in the altercation, got out of one of the cars and was allegedly stabbed in the upper body. He was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Officers arrested four males at the scene. Those taken into custody included a 24-year-old Sunbury man, a 23-year-old Romsey man, and two youths aged 15 and 17 from the Hume area. All four were interviewed and later released pending further enquiries.
Police believe several other people left the area before officers arrived and are working to identify them.
The investigation remains ongoing, and detectives are appealing for dashcam footage, CCTV or witness accounts.
