Burger bar American Social closes

Sunbury eatery and take-away American Social Bites & Brews has closed. The fast food restaurant and cocktail bar at 3/41 Home Street has been trading for a little over three years – opening in late 2020.

Marketed as ‘industrial meets Miami vibe’, the restaurant served craft beers in addition to a range of burgers, chicken, fries, and salad dishes. A function room was also a part of the operation.

However, according to a notice on the building the tenant breached their lease with the landlord – RAA Property Investments – and is in default to the tune of more than $60,000.

A 19 May notice to quit, served by White Ellis Lawyers on behalf of the landlord, states that American Social is in breach of its lease for failing to pay rent, outgoings, GST and legal fees totalling $60,052.88.

Following the closure former staff and customers took to the Sunbury Community Facebook group to bemoan its demise.

The notice to quit, posted on the building used by American Social Bites & Brews.
