Steamrail Victoria is running the historic Red Rattler Tait to Sunbury on Sunday 4 June, powered by the A2 986 locomotive (pictured).
There will be six shuttle services on the scenic journey between Watergardens and Sunbury station, with the first service departing Watergardens platform 2 at 9.55am.
Those keen to experience a vintage rail service can also board transfer trains from Newport Station or Flinders Street to Watergardens in the morning, or Watergardens to Flinders Street or Newport in the afternoon.
However, ticket holders will not be able to board the service at Sunbury, nor leave the train when it arrives at Sunbury.
Prices are:
- Adults $32.50
- Aged under 3 – free
- Aged under 17 – $13
- Family tickets – 2 adults & 2 children, or 1 adult & 4 children – $80.
During the course of the day there will six return shuttles that will depart Watergardens Station Platform 2 at:
- 9:55am
- 10:45am
- 11:41am
- 1:42pm
- 2:35pm
- 3:42pm.
One way transfer trips will depart at the following times:
- Newport Station at 8:41am from Platform 1 or Flinders Street Station 9:10am from Platform 10 to Watergardens Station arriving at 9:40am
- Watergardens Station at 4:21pm from Platform 2 to Flinders Street Station arriving at 4:57pm or Newport Station arriving at 5:30pm
Newport arrival and departure is from the railway station, passengers will be unable to board at the workshops at Newport.
