The first signs of Sunbury’s much-needed car park are now apparent with three concrete towers clearly visible to passers-by.
Being built on the busy corner of Station St and Evans St, work started on the car park in June 2023, and already groundworks are well advanced.
The car park is due to be completed in late 2024, and while the original cost was put at $25m, the current estimate is $36.2m. Once finished it will give Sunbury shoppers and commuters an extra 300 parking spaces and storage for bicycles.
The project is being delivered by Hume City Council, is jointly funded by the Victorian Government’s Car Parks for Commuters Program, the Victorian Growth Areas Infrastructure Contribution, the Australian Government’s Urban Congestion Fund and Hume City Council.
