The 25m indoor swimming pool at the Sunbury Aquatic and Leisure Centre – that has been closed since May last year – will reopen on Monday 15 January.
Following repairs to the pool’s pipework, a much-advertised reopening that was cancelled in November due to flaky pool paintwork, confirmation the pool was leaking, and a $45,000 repair bill that climbed to more than $500,000 – the popular indoor pool will reopen just before children return to school.
SunburyLife has been told that a staff roster for lifeguards has been drawn up to keep watch on the pool’s users from 15 January, and the pool has been filled with water.
Checks are now being carried out to see the water is correctly treated for swimmers, says an insider.
