Rotary raises $4,000 for mental health research

Around 50 walkers took part in Sunbury Rotary Club‘s inaugural Lift the Lid fundraiser on Saturday 1 March.

The event, held at Rotary Park, Ligar St, saw participants complete a 2km route around Clarke Oval and Blind Creek to raise $4,000 for Australian Rotary Health. The national organisation’s Lift the Lid initiative researches the impact family violence has on young people.

John Webster, president of Sunbury Rotary, says: “We’re very happy with the result, and this will be the first of many more events.

“Our club would like to thank our sponsors and members of the wider Sunbury community for their very generous support and involvement.”

The Rotary Club of Sunbury celebrates its 52nd anniversary on Saturday 12 April. It is keen to attract new members to join one of its informal bi-weekly meetings or one of its proposed satellite clubs.
