Sunbury fountain upgrade delayed

Sunbury’s famous water feature, turned off at the start of June for upgrade work to begin, is still looking a little sad a month later.

The iconic fountain on O’Shanassy St is having a $35,000 upgrade to replace its water jets, but Hume Council says it may be some time before the water is turned on again.

A spokesperson for the council’s building maintenance department says: “There has been a delay with the fabrication. Completion is now expected late July or early August.”

Around $200,000 was spent installing lights and a perimeter wall to accomodate the water jets in 2017.
